Dive Trip to The Great Barrier Reef

Diving with Taka Dives out of Cairns
On May 29 we took off with our friends, Ray and Marilyn [who are on their vessel, Horizon] on a 100 foot steel dive boat with a total of 27 divers and 10 crew. Well, actually, Marilyn and Lynn were snorkelers but enjoyed the excitement just as well. We chose Taka Dives out of Cairns and were happy with their professionalism. Chuck and Ray enjoyed 14 dives over 5 days in strong weather. There was quite a current and all swimmers were well challenged but still impressed with the chance to see one of the worlds wonders up close. The underwater photos below just begin to show the beauty and awe that the divers raved about after each dive. The locations and sealife was varied every day in 10 locations along much of the 1200 mile reef. A fellow diver shared the underwater photos with us so we can give a few examples from the trip. We also experienced 3 of the most severely rolly and pounding nights we have ever had at sea, throwing us all over our cabin. Perhaps we were sore from the nights but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm for seeing more underwater sights.
